Anita Hornai is a Sound Designer, Composer, and Musician working across film, theatre, and audio-based projects, creating immersive and emotionally driven soundscapes that support storytelling and bring creative worlds to life. Her work spans sound design, composition, music production, and post-production, with a particular interest in Foley, narrative sound, and the relationship between sound, space, and emotion.

As a versatile multi-instrumentalist playing flute and other woodwinds, guitar, and keys, Anita brings a rich musical sensibility to her sound design and compositions. She is actively involved in the live and collaborative music scene, performing and recording with projects and collectives including Starlight Collective, Soja Street, Borago Music, Kiffs, and Lily’s project.

Her recent credits include sound design and composition for the documentary Easy Digger, directed by Richard Hajdu, and sound design for Pankaland, an audio blog by Anna Torner. In theatre, she has maintained a continuous collaboration with HubArt Theatre Company over the past eight years, recently bringing their production Magic Cube to international audiences in Edinburgh and New York. Her theatre portfolio also includes sound design for EMMA in Serbia, directed by Peter Fekete.

Anita’s creative background began with jazz studies at the Budapest Music Academy, where she developed her foundation as a vocalist and musician. She is currently completing a DipHE in Music Technology and Production at the University of East London and IMW, developing her practice across sound design, recording, mixing, and post-production. Her studies and professional collaborations have expanded her expertise alongside experienced sound designers and Foley artists, alongside work in spatial audio and Dolby Atmos.

With a multidisciplinary background in music performance, production, and sound design, Anita approaches each project with both technical precision and strong creative instinct. She is particularly drawn to collaborative projects where sound and music are integral to storytelling—whether through detailed Foley, post-production for film and television, atmospheric soundscapes, original composition, or live musical collaboration.
